Mr. Luckie's Meeting-.— We remind our readers of the meeting to be held at the Provincial Hall this evening. Cricket. — A match between an Eleven from the Union and College Clubs and the Wakefield Club will be played in Vic-tory-square to-morrow. Rifle Shooting. — A match between the City Rifles and the Waimea Company will take place at the Maitai Butts tomorrow, commencing at 10 a.m. Miss Neilson's 'Benefit. — The entertainment that was to have been given for this lady's benefit has, in consequence of the meeting to-night, been postponed until Monday evening. Foxhill Railway. — Tbe following is a copy of a telegram received by his Honor the Superintendent from the Hon, the Minister of Public Works: — Christohubch, 28th November, 1872. Mr. Carruthers purposes being in Nelson on Monday. Will you be so kind as to assist him ia collecting information for his report on Nelson and Foxhill railway. [Signed] Edward Bicbardson. Upper Buller District. — We understand that the Provincial Government have, in compliance with a request made to the Superintendent by residents in the Upper Buller district, placed the sum of £30 at the disposal of the Motueka Valley Road Board for the purpose of improving the Hope Track, so that goods may be taken that way in preference to the old track by tbe Roundell, which is very hilly and circuitous. — Communicated. The Late Shipwreck. — The Wellington Post says : — "The claims of Mr. Hamill the mate of the unfortunate City of Newcastle to a recognition of his brave work are producing effect. We are glad to inform our readers that subscription lists have been opened in various parts of the city, and that one is lying at our office. We understand that it is intended, when a few names and a little money has been collected, to invite tbe subscribers to meet to decide in what form the testimonial shall be presented to Mr. Hamill. There is little doubt that many persons are desirous of giving Mr. Hamill some evidence that they recognise his successful efforts to save life." We are not aware whether the Caledonian Society of Nelson purposes taking notice of deeds of bravery outside the Province, but if so, who so fitting a recipient of a medal as Mr. Hamill. Mr. John R. Mabin reports the sale of Major Morse's stock, &c, on Wednesday last, with the following result : — Cart horses £18 to £26; mare, 10 years old, accustomed to saddle 'and double harness, £12; mare, 8 years old, accustomed to ploughing, £20 15s; yearling colt, by Dioraedes, £10; 3 year-old ponies, by Tom Thumb. £10 each; 3 year-old filly, not broken in, £7 10s; mare, aged, with foal, by Towton, £9 103; pony, broken to saddle, £10; 2 year-old gelding, by Diomedes, been handled, bought in at £20; 4 year-old mare, by St. AiibyD, out of Crescent, bought in at £30; 25 hogget Leicester ewes, in their fleece, 27s 6d each; 15 Leicester ews, 2 to 4 years old, in their fleece, 40s each; 63 Leicester ewes, with lambs, at 50a per ewe; 4 yearold wethers, 355: 21 wether hoggets, 265; 2 year-old pure Southdown ram, 503; hogget ram, Southdown, out of Leicester, 70s; fat pigs, about SOlbs each, 31s; cows, £4 10s to £10 10s; 3 year-old heifers, £7 15s to £8 88; yearling heifers, 50s; heifer calves, 9s; wide-tired tip dray, £14; ordinary tip dray, £4; roller, £5, twowheeled plough, by Hornsby, with six shares, £4 ss; set harrows', by Ransome, £4; set seed harrows, by Hornsby, £3; chaff-cutters, £2 2s 6d to £3 7s 6d; set cart harness, £8 ss; reaping machine, £5; 30 acrea in wheat, the straw to be left on the ground, £2 15s per acre. There was a very large attendance, the bidding was spirited, and everything was sold, except the horses mentioned above.
