CORRESPONDENCE.

o •** We are desirous £>f affording; every reasonable facility lor the discussion of public subjects; but it must be understood that we are in no way responsible for the opinions expressed by correspondents. To the Editor of thk Nelson Evehikg- Mail. Sib, — Your timely notice and steady advocacy of a tramway to the Buller deserved the thanks of the community. I am fully satisfied that the present stagnation of trade might have been aveitcd had our members unitedly importuned the Assembly for tbe means of readily getting at the known wealth of the middle and south-west portion of this province. The advantages to the whole colony, if properly pointed out, are undeniable. .No wonder the House treated our railway interests so lightly, when our members were so divided and lukewarm- A railway through to the Buller, instead of to Foxhill only, would have been scant justice to this province. If a determination to open up the interior had possessed the minds of our members instead of petty larceny, and Staffordism versus Vogelism, we should not have to witness the exodus from Nelson. • It is no use, however, in writing a Jeremiad ; s">, possibly the plan is to convene a meeting to discuss the best way to provide means to construct a tramway from Foxhill to the Buller. I am informed that £150,000 can be h»d at six per cent, for such a purpose, and I thoroughly endorse the remarks of " Yeoman " in last night's issue. I am, &c , j ' Citizen. > ,' ..... ■ -,j.ju..i.hii 11l ?—-—---- .--:=■
