Oddfellows' Hall — It will be seen that Mr. George Bromley and Miss Emily Neilson, with the assistance of soma Nelson amateurs, givß one of tbeir pleasant entertainments to-morrow night, when Miss Neilson takes her benefit. A new programme is announced, to conclude with the farce of " Betsy Baker." The Uc7to says : — " The most interesting- discovery heard of lately is one for laying down submarine telegraphic wires, even across tbe Atlantic with insulation amounting only to a siugle un'ii, instead of 170,000 units of the present cables — thus of course, saving two-thirds of tbe preeeDt expense of thoso cables, and making oceaoic telegraphy cheaper than that even of the land." What now is to binder New Zealand being connected with Australia and the rest of the world ? The New Zealand Gazette announces that the third of the series of annual International Exhibitions of selected works of fine art (including music), industrial disand recent scientific inventions and art, coveries under the direction of H. M. Commissioners of the Exhibition of 1851, will be' opened at South Kensington, London, in April, 1873. The Exhibition will consist of three divisions — 1. Fine arts. 2. Manufactures. 3. Recent Scientific inventions and new discoveries. Tbe productions of all nations will be admitted subject to the decisions of competent j udges as to tbeir being worthy of exhibition, and provided they have not been exhibited in the previous International Exhibitions of the series. Applications to exhibit objects should be forwarded to the Secretary of the London International Exhibition, and information can be obtaiaed of the Under Secretary, Wellington.
