Philharmonic. — We notice by advertisement that there will be no practice of this Society to-night. Stoke Public Library. — A special meeting of subscribers will be held at the Stoke schoolroom this evening, at eight o'clock. Political Meetings.— Mr. Shephard and Mr. Parker have announced their intention of meeting their constituents, the former at the Lower Wakefield schoolroom this evening, and the latter at the Motueka Institute to-morrow. The steamship Dacota is now on her. way from New York to San Francisco, and is expected there ab^ut the end of this month; will leave for New Zealand ports on 6th November, and all the steamers will afterwards run right through irom San Francisco. Entertainment. — Mr. George Bromley, assisted by Miss Emily Neilso.n, purpose giving one or more entertainments in Nelson, shortly. They have for some time been performing on tbß Coast to crowded audiences, to whom they appear to have given the utmost satisfaction. The Nik ad Tree. — At the Agricultural Show recently held at Auckland, there were exhibited a number of hats and bonnets made from the leaf of the Nikau tree.
