Wellington. November 6. Messrs Pearce and Hunter addre sed a crowded meeting of their constituents last night. They defended the Government, and themselves for supporting them Mr Hart moved a vote of confidence, and charged tho Stafford Government with only inking np the policy of their predecessors. Mr Krult seconded. Mr Carpenter moved a vote of no confidence, and ridiculed that iortion of the Governor's me-! movanda which stated that the differences were ;merely personal. Mr Carter seconded, and alluded to tho dissatisfaction among the immigrants. Mr Travers spoke at great length, arid was enthusiastically received He explained that the dissatisfaction of Mr Brogden's immigrants was caused, by the -refusal of the Government to modify tha arrangements under which each immigrant was landed with a load of debt, which two years of full work with high w«ge» and strict economy would scarcely enable him to liquidate. Iv justice to Mr Bn gden, he poiii ed out that he had taken every possiblo step to obtain such modification of the immigration arrangements as would place his immigrants on no worse footing than tho Government immigrants.
