Wellington, November 1. Mr. Brogden leaves for England in the Albion on Tuesday nest. After the Ist January next, the Civil Service office hours are to be from 9 am. to 5 p m. The Government intend to effect a great reduction in the numt er of officials. The office of Inspector of Volunteers and Militia is to be abolished. Colonel Harrington is at present granted leave of absence. The services of Adjutants Hurofrey of Nelson, Macpherson of Waikaio, aod Captain Dawson are dispensed with Other large' reductions in the militia and volunteer dtpartmest are anticipated.
