Caledonian Society. — The second entertainment, in aid of the funds of this Society, will be given at the Provincial Hall, to-morrow evening. The programme is an excellent one, and we are glad to hear that the ticket's are being disposed ot rapidly. Japanese Troupe. — There was another most succesi-ful entertainmr-nt given last night to a moderately filled house. There were several changes in the programme, and the performance gave quite as great satisfaction as any of the previous ones. The company will perform again this evening. Accidknt on tub Waimea Road — An accident occurred last night to Mr. John Palmer, of Waimea West, who, with several members of his family, had remained in town to witness the Japanese performance, and in driving out late at night, ran into another vehicle at Stoke. Mr. Palmer's trap was upset, and all in it thrown out, he himself sustaining a dislocation of the collarbone, hut, so far as we can learn, no other personal injury was inflicted upon any of those who were with him. Serious Accident. — An accident that is likely to be attended with very serious consequences occurred a few days ago to a man named Woodward, in the employ of the Board of Work*, who was engaged in breaking stones at Beachville, when a small chip fiVw up and struck him on the eyeball. Although suffering considerable annoyance, the poor iellow did not pay much attention to it until too late, as, when a medical man was called in, it was found that the eyeball was completely destroyed. He i* now, we understand, suffering great pain from the inflammation.
