Friday, October 4. Present : All tbe members except Mr. Hooper. The Public Works Committee recommended that a drain be constructed, and temporary repairs executed in Parei-e-street, and that the ditches be cleaned out and the road crowned up in Bca'chville. No further progress. Second reading - still far off" The following reply was sent by the chairman :•— (i The Board ol Works, by resolution, request me to telegraph you that if Nelson- -Loan Act! is not pnssed this session, the Board will have an extra liability of. j£lßoo for -brick contract alone, ■■ : and nothing whatever. but the- ordinary rates to meet it, and these probably crippled by Gas and Waterworks Acts.
