Wellington, September 28. The Financial Statement has given general satisfaction. Strong comments are made on the fact that it shows a deficit of £33,000 on the Consolidated Fund, instead of a surplus of £ 10,800, as represented by Mr. Yogel. The Distillation Act Amendment Bill was read the second time. > After ft long debate the House decided to give Mr. Smythies £ i 000 compensation. The Nelson Crown Lands Leasing Act Amendment Bill was read the second time. The consideration of the Nelson Counties Bill, and the County of Westland Bill was postponed until Wednesday. -
