NELSON BOARD OF WORKS.

Pbiday, September 20. Present, all the members but Mr, Dodson. The assessment warrants for blocks B, D, E, P, and G, were returned to the Board complete. Permission was granted, under the usual conditions, to Mr, F. Main to erect a verandah in front of the premises in Collingwood-street, lately occupied by Messrs Morton & Co. A letter was received from Mr. Helps, stating that he had recently purchased certain lands on the Britannia Heights,, and requesting that the signal station and flagstaff, which were in the middle of the street leading to his property, might be removed. The Surveyor was instructed to forward Mr. Helps' letter to the Government. Petitions were 1 received from the residents in Toi-toi Valley and Beachville, praying that the roads in their respective .districts might be repaired. Beferred to the Public Works Committee.: Letters were received in reply to a comnmni- j cation addressed to them by the Board of Works | from, the Mayors of Auckland, Christchurch, Wauganui,' Blenheim, Greymouth, Hokitika, and Wellington, giving a statement of the income and expenditure .of their respective boroughs for the past year.
