Evenings with the Musical Composers. — This is the name that has been selected for a series of entertainments that are to be given by Ibe members of the All Saintß* Choir, assisted by a few friends, in aid of the Organ Fund. The idea is a novel ODe, but we have every reason to believe that the great musical composers with whom the public are invited to spend a few evenings will be introduced to them in ho pleasant a manner that their levees will be found to prove most popular. The first of these , entertainments will take place on Tuesday next, when Bhort sketches will be given of the lives of Mendelssohn, S. Webbe, Mozart, and W. V. Wallace, illustrated ,by specimens of their works both vocal and instrumental. The price of admission has 'been fixed at the low rate of one shilling, so that none need stay away on the score of expense. Wesleyan Missions. — The anniversary meetings of the Nelson branch of the Australasian Wesleyan. Missionary Society have been held during the week in the town and country districts. In Nelson, sermons were preached in aid of the fund on Sunday, and last evening the meeting was held, Mr. Haddow in the chair. Addresses were delivered by the Revs. W. J. Watkin, E. Thomas, and D. Dolamore, and also by Messrs. Wagg and Lucas. The report having been read, the following resolutions were passed : — (1.) "That the report be adopted j and that this meeting offers its devout thanks to the Lord of the the harvest for the success with which He has crowned the efforts of this and kindred Societies in these Southern Seas, and rejoices in the number and character of the converts of these Societies, in the intelligence and devotion of the native agents, and in the multitudes that are brought under the influence of the Gospel." (2.) " That in view of the millions of our fellow men who are yet without the knowledge of the true God, and who are without hope in the world, this meeting will do its part by prayer and contribution to send the Gospel abroad." A Committee was formed for the year consisting of Messrs. Shannon, Campbell, Boundy, Burn, Wagg, TJsher, Crisp, Lightband, Blick, and Lucas.
