The following epiton.B of the reports of the anniversaries ofthe Missionary Societies bel'Hn Exeter Hall in the month of May Inst, may' not be uninteresting to iqany of our Readers :— The Watchman says .—The Wesleyan iiiissfonary anniversary was a great success. We can hardly hope ever to attend- a better meeting; The large hall was filled • at. ten o'clock, though the meeting did not commence till eleven, and for five hours the vast.* audience listened with unbroken interest to the speakers. The Earl' of Shaftesbury presided, and expressed himself as perfectly ' at home. The principal. speakers were the Key. Dr. Jame«, the President of the Conference, who in his speech' administered the merited castigation to ''the cproneted young, man, who has lately brought discredit on the name of a noble house." by the publication of a book on South Sea Missions;' Mr: S. D;*Waddy, who, in ■ an eloquent address, 4^16. with ,«■ the details, of work lh'oonnection with the financial apparatus > of the Society ; " the Rev. H. J. Piggot, of Padua, in Italy, whose speech was a : .master-piece, and has sel'lom been surpassed in Exeter Hall; the other speakers- were the Rev. Joseph Gaskin, Rev. <8-f Antliff, Spy. J.KJli*.eF, aafl Rev. D. J. . Waller. There are two other societies which, though not called t Missionary Societies, are such to a greater or less extent,— The British and Foreign Bible Society which his printed and circulated 2,584,357 copies of Biblep, Te-tamc Us, ; and Portions" during the year, which has entailed an expenditure of £181,065, tlie, income during the same period , ; being £184.196. /The Re.ij.ious Tract Society has had an income of ©121,943, -while its expenses have amounted to £1-20,000, This -Society .has. not only continued its serial works, hut has issu. d ; U0 new Tracts. TJie total circulation of Tracts »nd Books of various sizes has been about 50.000,000, the number of pages having reached tlie enormous number of 579,203,270. Thus is the : Church of to-day endeavoring to carry out her risen Saviour's command, " preach the Gospel to every creature." . .
