Public Notices, EDUCATION - "RATE. Superintendent's Office, Nelson, August 8, 1872. "PURSUANT to the Provisions of The EduJT cation Act, 1863," the Superintendent directs.it to be notified that the ANNUAL HAT 8 imposed by the said Act, upon all Householders residing within Fducational Districts, will be 1 LEVIED on SATURDAY, the 31st day of August, instant ; and that the same will be received at the following places, between the hours of Ten a.m. and Four p.m., namely — Court-house. Nelson, by Alfred Hibble School- house, Clifton Terrace, Suburban North, by Alexander Wragg Fchool-house, Stoke, by E. Cresswell Agricultural Hall, Waimea East, by William Steer School-house, Waimea West, by George Walker 1 School-house, Spring Grove, by Charles Knapp School-house, Upper Moutere, by H. Bensemann Institute, Motueka, by J. F. "Wilson School-house. Riwaka, by C. T. Pattie House of G. Taylor, Takaka, by G. Taylor Police Station, Collingwood, by John Fisher Court-house, Cobden, by P. G. Rowley Court-house, Westport, by the Sergeant of Police, W. A. Kiely School-house, Motupiko, by George Flower School-house, Dovedale, by Job Best. The aforesaid Act requires that "every Householder in each Educational District shall pay Annually TWENTY SHILLINGS, and & further sum of Five Shillings for every child of such House-holder between the ages of five and fourteen years : Provided always, that no person shall be liable to pay for more than four children, nor for any child residing inorp ♦' aa three miles from any school established mnler this Act; nor for any child attending any school not established under this Act, in respect of whom such persons shall produce to the Collector a certificate signed by the teacher of such school, showing that such child has attended during the three months previous to the levying of the rate."
