[PebGbevixle's Telegram Company.] PARLIAMENTARY. [The following telegram reached us last night just after going to press.] Wellington, August 1 6. ; Mr Stafford gave notice this afternoon that he irill move on Wednesday next :— " " That in the opinion of this House, the administration by the present Government of the Public Works and Immigration policy has been unsatisfactory; that the habitual absence of Ministers from the seat of Government during the recess, which results in their conducting important operations without frequent opportunities of consulting each other, prevents that concert and unity of action between the several departments essential to efficient direction of public affairs, either executive or legisla'.ive, and largely increases the cost of government. 2. That in order to administer the Public Works and Immigration policy in the most efficient and economical manner, the Colonial Government should retain the full responsibility of the proper conduct ot all •works authorised, and the 6ole control over all sums voted by Parliament; but should, when avail itself of any existing provincial or other local machinery in supervising the execution of such works," August 17. A powerful majority has been formed to support Mr. Stafford's motion. Nearly forty votes may be safely counted upon . Most of the party who were to vote for Mr. Curtis' resolution have agreed to give their support to that of which Mr. Stafford has given notice.
