Wellington, August 16.

Mr Fitzherbert concluded his speech last night by stating that the Provincial party declined to receive the challenge of the Government to make the resolution a Ministerial question. He there-fore-moved the previous question, which was seconded by Mr. Macandrew.

The Government were much disconcerted by this'iriove, but accepted ihe amendment, and the debate lapsed. Mr. Stafford gives notice of "want of confidence " motion as soon as the House meets tonight. . ' «
