The Government have decided on adopting the County" form of Government in uniting the County of Westland and the Nelson South-west Goldfields. The bill will shortly be produced. Mt Gisborne said that the Government found that the expense would exceed the anticipated amount, and that the removal would seriously delay, the public works, and cause great inconvenience. They therefore decided to afford the House the opportunity of reconsidering its - decision . After some little discussion, the motion was "withdrawn.

The House agreed to a return of all Harbor, Pilot, and Light dues.
