PARLIAMENTARY.
Wellington, August 13. Papers relative to the Mataura and Invercargill Railway show that Forest & Company and Proudfoot, the Victorian Contractors, offered to construct 200 miles of railway BnDually at 12§ per cent, below the Engineer's, estimate, and to deposit 2£ per cent, security, receiving progress payments upon the completion of each ten miles. this, the Invercargill and Mataura Railway Contract, has been given to Brogden & Co. above the ITntcineer's estimate. The matter wiU'eome before the House.
