SYDNEY.
A resolution has been carried in the Assembly in favor of the Califoroian mail service subsidy, with a restriction that the contract is to be submitted to Parliament previous to its acceptance.
New copper - nu&iug companies are forming. The coasting sailors are striking for £6 a month. The schooner Lavinia reports that a boat's crew was massacred, and the ship taken, but re-taken at Solomon's group. Several whites and Polynesians were killed. -The brig Scotchman, supposed to have been lost in the South Seas, has arrived iv the Clarence district. Sugats are realising £35 ss.
