July ]3. — The Ministry are re-elected, and b»ve met the House with apparently a good workiu£ majority. They promise a progressive policy. Smallpox Las been discovered in two families mimed James and Sherlock, passengers by the Hero from New Zealand, residing at Sandhurst. Two deaths linve occurred, and there is great excitement in consequence. Sanitary measures are adopted, the patients were isolated, and it is believed that the spread of the disease is stopped. A vigorous quarantine is established, axui a strict inspection ordered of passengers from New Zealand. The Lincolushiro, in poiDg down the Bay, grounded io. Capel Sound, but eventually got off and proceeded on her voyage. Sergeant Harvey, of the Williamstown police, was found drowned iv two feet of water, into which he is supposed to have fallen iv a fit. Took-y's are quoted nt £;j 55.; row issue, 37rf. 61.; flour, £16 55.; New Zealand oats, 3s. 3»i- offered aud refused. The Alma's cargo is placed at full rates. Oatmeal has been auctioned at £7 15s. per iou. Sugars held for advance.
