WHY, INDEED!

To ms Editor of the Nelsojt Evjekikg Mail.

f&iSiE, — Will you kindly inform me why the masters ot the Nelson Provincial Schools generally refuse to use Catholic school-books ? Is it because they are Protestants aud wish to propagate the Protestant faith ? I have always understood that the Nelson system is non-sectarian, and I presume, therefore that any master who wishes to give ho.iest elfect to that system (and it is tlie bounden, duty of every teacher to do so) is perfectly justified in excluding from his course of instruction any books, or parts of books, which contain any controversial or sectarian matter. CO3IMOK SEX3E.
