Aktizans 1 Society. — The quarterly meeting for the purpose of electing officers will take place this evening at the usual place and hour. Lecture on theEng-lish Cathedrals. We remind our renders that tlie Bishop's lecture, illustrated by dissolving views of the cathedrals of England and also some few on the Continent, will take place, at the Provincial Hall, this evening. Accident. — An accident occurred this afternoon to Mr. J. T. Lowe, which fortunately resulted in nothing more serious than a few bruises. As he was riding at, a canter, in Trafalgar-square, at the foot of the Church Hill, the saddle slipped round and ho fell off, landing on bis forehead, which ; was much cut and bruised, but beyond this, and a severe shaking, he sustained no injury. " . 7
Vaccination —At the present moment, when it is advisable that every precautiou should be taken against the spread of smallpox in the Colony, for the information of teachers of public schools wo quote the following clause from the " Vaccination Act, 1871 " :— " If the teacher of any school which is supported wholly or in part by grunt, or from rates or any public funds, or by any endowments, whether Colonial, Provincial, or P.-irochial, shall have reason to believe that any child attending such school lias not heen voccinnted, he shall give notice to the nearest Public Vaccinator, find such Vaccitiator shall examine the child, and if, upon examination, he shall be of opinion that such child has not. been successfully vaccinated, he. shall thereupon, vaccinate such child. Provided that, in the csisb of persons above the age of sixteen the examination sliail bo conducted by a legally qualified medical practitiouer, and the person, if necces6ary, he vaccinated by him."
