WAIMEA ROAD BOARD.

The annual meeting of ratepnyers in the Waimea district was held at the Agricultural Hall, Richmond, yesterday, at coon. Mr. J. T. Smith was called to the chair. The Chairman read the advertisement convening the meeting, and then called upon the Secretary of the Board to read f,he annual report, the balance-sheet being posted up in the room. After some discussion on the report, it was adopted and ordered to be printed. The meeting was called upon to nominate candidates for the new Board, when the following were proposed: — rCandidate. Proposer Seconder. Ching. E. Jelly man. W, Burton Rout. J. Rowbotham. D. Norgate. Kiel. J. Hose. J. Best. Barnicoat. J. "Winu. C. Saywell. Baigent. J. Winn. G-. Berry. Holland. W. Morrison. J. Bose. Winn. S. Chattock. ' J. Rowbotham. Sheat. G. Saywell. J. Jary. Smith. S. Wells J. Wadsworth. Malcolm. H. Kenyon. J. Parkinson. Kerr. A. Andrews'. J. Palmer. Arnold. W. Bell. J. Dron. A show of hands was called for each candidate, and the election was declared to have fallen on Messrs. Barnicoat, Holland, Winn, Smith, Kerr, and Arnold. A poll was demanded by three ratepayers. A discussion took place on the question of dividing the district into sub-districts, but ultimately it was resolved to leave the matter in the hands of the new Board now • to be elected. A vote of thanks to the retiring Board, and to the Chairman, brought the meeting to a dose.
