On Earl Granville's urgent appeal, Lord Russell, for the third time, postponed his motion, on his promising to produce papers in connection with the question before Whitsuntide. The Pacific Islanders Bill has passed. Prince Hohenlohe, Germany's representative at the Vatican, has been rejected by the Pope. The New Zealand Kapanga Goldmining Company is announced with a capital of £100,000. May 10. The American journals announce tha» the Government is iully determined to ask no further compromise regarding indirect claims. The Congressional therefore expects that England will withdraw from the Geneva Arbitration. M. Thiers' Government has resolved to arraign Marshal Bazaine before a court martial. An analogous decision is imminent with reference to General Wimpfen.
