Erbatum. — An error occurred in our yesterday's report of the election of Education Committeemen, whereby the Rev. S. Poole was stated to have been appointed chairman and hon. secretary, and Mr. J. Sharp representative at the Central Board for Lower Moulere instead of for Motueka. Upper Waxefield.— At the election of members of the Local Education Committee held on Saturday last, Messrs. Morrison and James Pearse were reelected, and Mr. William Wadsworth chosen in the room of Mr. George Gardner, who did not come forward again. There waß a spirited contest, seven candidates having been proposed. At a subsequent meeting of the committee, Mr. James Pearse was re-elected chairman and secretary, and Mr. H. J. Tunnicliflfe, representative at the Central Board. Coeonee's Inquest. — An inquest was held at the Lunatic Asylum yesterday on the body of one of the inmates named Thomas Brown, who was found dead by his bedside on Monday morning. From the evidence it appeared that his tea had been taken to him in his room on the previous evening, and that he was not again Been until found dead on the morning in question. A post mortem examination showed that death had been caused by suffocation, produced by a piece of bread having stuck in Mb throat. A verdict was returned in accordance with the evidence.
Drawing - Room Entertainment . — Mr. Hoskins and Miss Colville drew another good house last night, when tbetwo first pieces on the programme " A Comical Countess " and nothing to Wear " were splendidly acted, and thoroughly well received by the audience. The Yankee Extravaganza entitled " A Fast Train," is not the kind of piece that anyone would care to see a second time, indeed it was rather a trial of patience to have to sit it out last night, as beyond giving Mr. Hoskinß an opportunity of showing how quickly he could rattle out a given number of words, there really was nothing at all in it either to interest or amuse. For to-night there is to be a very attractive programme, and having seen Mr, Hoskins and Miss Colville iv two of the pieces advertised, we can safely recommend the entertainment to the public.
