Mrs. Palmer's Concert. — Assisted by a number of lady and gentleman amateurs Mrs Palmer purposes giving a vocal and instrumental concert at the Assembly Room, on Friday evening next. Oddfellows' Hall. — Mr. Hoskins and Miss Colville, whose acting is spoken of in the highest terms by the press throughout the colony, will give a theatrical entertainment at the Oddfellows' Hall this evening, when a treat may be expected j such as we have not enjoyed in Nelson for some time. j Winter Evening Entertainments. — The first of this series of entertainments took place last night, when the Bishop of Nelson read selections from Sir Thomas More's " Eutopia," after which several songs and choruses were sung, and pieces played by the band, which kindly gave its services for the occasion. The next entertainment will be given on Tuesday, the 18th instant, when the Rev. G. H. Johnstone wili give a narrative of his recent trip to the West Coast. Serious Charge against a Member of the Provincial Council. — By our Council report it will be seen that a grave charge was last night brought by Mr Kynnersley against Mr O'Conor, the substance of it being that the latter gentleman, actio g upon information obtained by him while in official attendance upon a Select Committee, proceeded directly to the Land OflS.ce where he purchased certain sections of land in the town of Westport, the value of which he knew would be greatly enhanced by the action proposed to be taken by that Select Committee. The matter has been referred to a Committee appointed by lot with instructions to report this evening. Until this report is brought up, and Mr O'Conor has had an opportunity of defending himself we shall refrain from making any remarks on the subject.
