The Steameb Albion", which, carried the last Suez mail, arrived in Melbourne nine hours before the sailing of the P. and 0. Company's steamer. She was to sail again, for tbe Bluff, on the 29th May. Stoke Fab_hsb__V Club. — The next monthly meeting of the members of this club will take place oh Monday, at the usual place and hour. As will be seen by the advertisement, matters of considerable "importance will be brought up for dis- , cussion. G o l db N B-a x.— The Lady Barkly arrived this . morning from the above locality bringing back Dr. Hector, who has been paying a short visit to the district. She brings news of a reef,; which,.pronfises to torn out well, having been die-

covered at Anatori. We have not yet been able to ascertain full particulars, but rumor has it that some of, the stone which was taken to the Perseverance battery and crushed there, yielded a considerable amount of gold. * The Perseverance reef has widened to the extent of 9 feet as tbe workings proceeded, and crushing is to recommence next week. Winter Evening Entertainments. — It will be seen by advertisement tbat it is intended to get up a series of shilling entertainments in aid of the Christ Church Fund, similar to those which proved so popular, and were such a pecuniary success two years ago. The first of the series will take place at the Assembly Room on Tuesday evening next, when the Bishop of Nelson will read some interesting and amusing selections from Sir Thomas More's " Eutopia." The musical portion of the entertainment has been undertaken by several amateurs who never fail to give satisfaction to a Nelson audience. The Committee have wisely adhered to the original low prices of admission, and may reasonably expect a crowded audience on each occasion.
