CORRESPONDENCE.
*** We are desirous of affording every reasonable fpcility for the discussion of public subjects; but it must be understood that -we axe in no -way responsible for tlie opinions expressed by correspondents. To the Editor of the Nelson* Evening Mail. Sib — It was with great satisfaction that I read a paragraph in your paper -warning poachers from destroying pheasants and other game in this Province, and I sincerely hope that the Government, with the assistance of the Secretary of the Acclimatisation Society, will make an example of the first person that wilfully offends against the law. It is not fair to a true sportsman that persons who glaringly shoot game all the year round should 6e allowed to escape unpunished, particularly as only one month in the year is proclaimed for shooting game in this Province, and those trne sportsmen who pay the license are to he satisfied with the few birds that are left by these unprincipled destroyers of game. I am, Sir, A Trtjb Sportsman. Moiueka, May 7.
