" The steamer Tararua, Captain W. Rouse, arrived from Melbourne, via Hokitika and Greymouth, at 6 o'clock this morning. She left Melbourne Pier at 2.15 p.m. on the 2nd; passed the Heads at 5.15, and Sisters Island at 11 a.m. the following day, and during the passage experienced moderate variable winds and heavy southerly swell. Sighted land at 10 a.m. on the 7th, and anchored off Hokitika at 5.30 p.m.; was tendered for passengers and mails the same night, and the following morning for cargo. After transhipping 85 tons, left for Greymouth at noon, anchoring at 2 p.m.; was tendered at 10 a.m. on the 9th, and left for Nelson at 11.30 a.m., had fine weather along the coast, arriving as aoove. Captain Rouse, of the Claud Hamilton, brings the Tararua down this trip, in place of. Captain Pearce, who was suffering from a bad ear. ' ]
