Harmonic Society. — The concert iv aid of the piano fund will be given at the Society's room this evening, and is likely to prove a very successful one. Tickets may be obtained from Mr. Stanton or at the door. American MiNSTRELS.---In consequence of the Harmonic Society's concert this evening tbe "Miuslrels" have postponed their second entertainmeut until to-morrow night. Hitherto, they have beeu most unfortunate in the weather, and we trust they will be more successful 10-morrow, for they certainly are a most deserving company, their performances being in every way far superior to that of the other bands of minstrels who occasionally visit Nelson. The Schooner Ocean Bird. — We are indebted to Captain Creagh of the s.s. Kennedy, for the following memorandum : — ''I steamed round the schooner Ocean Bird, which, to all appearances, haß received no damage to her hull. One of the anchors seems to be down, or the bight rf oue of her chains dragging: on Ihe bottom, as she was swung head to tide, acd dipped forward when the ground swell rolied in. The main boom was floating alonjja de with clew of maiDsail and topping lifts fast to it. She lies afloat bottom up W.N.W. distant about four miles from Farewell Spit Lighthouse in 12 fathoms of water, and in the direct course of steamers bound from Nelson or Wanganui to West Coast. Owing to the threatening appearance of the weather I deemed it advisable not to take her in tow. She had not shifted her position since Captain Wbitwell saw her on Monday night. Tbe consignees of her cargo at Greymouth told me she was loaded with chaff and bran, principally the former." We understand that Messrs. N. Edwards and Co. sent out the Lyttellon in search last night.
