CORRESPONDENCE.

To The Editor op the Nelson Evening Mail. Sir — I note the following paragraph ia your issue of last night : — " Greville's agent in Nelson, we notice, telegraphed to the other provinces that Mr. Luckie had published his address to the electors, of which a brief abstract is given, but no mention whatever was made of Mr. Richmond's, which appeared on the same day." When the brief notice of my address was telegraphed to Greville's head- quarters on Thursday week, your paper had not appeared, and as I had to leave town early, I knew nothing about Mr. Richmond's address until I heard from yourself at the Richmond Agricultural Show, that evening, that it was to be published the same day. When I returned to town at night the oflice was closed, and it was too late to telegraph. The Alhambra left next day, direct for Wellington. This was explained to Greville's manager. Had you put the facts together, perhaps you might have found it unnecessary to notice what was simply an unintentional omission, which could have no influence in Nelson, tither dire^ I indirect. -t or I I am, &c„ D. M ! .. Luckie, [Mr. Luckie's er' Grevilie's Agent. " factory, ar^ planation is perfectly satisremem> v naw he rem inds us of it we &t *' _er that we were the first to inform him die Agricultural Show that Mr. Richmond s address would appear in that evening's paper. Had we thought of this yesterday we should not have inserted the paragraph of which Mr. Luckie complains, but we feel sure that he will fully sympathise with us when we say that is would be as fair to ask a man to remember « what he had for dinner a fortnight ago as to expect him to constantly bear in mind a casual conversation that occurred several days previously.— Ed. _V.J_.2_".]
