The Nelson Evening Mail. FRIDAY, APRIL 19, 1872.
Concert. — The concert in aid of Al Saints' Church Organ Fund will take place at the Provincial Hall, this evening. City Election. — Mr. Lightband's resignation has speedily called forth addresses to the electors from two of the .intending candidates, and Mr. J. C Richmond and Mr. Luckie are now fairly in tbe field. It will be seen that they intend holding meetings next week, the former on Tuesday, and the latter on Wednesday evening, when we shall have a full exposition of their views on the main questions of tbe day. It is also fully expected that Mr. Saunders will be a candidate, and that be will shortly be here for the purpose of addressing the electors. We observe that the Colonist of this morning suggests that a paragraph which appeared in our columns yesterday relative to the candidature of Mr. Saunders is incorrect, and that Ihe editor of that journal happens to know that a telegram was received yesterday to the following tenor and effect : — " Will be at nomination, and will then decide." We happen to know that it was nothing of the kind, as will be seen by the following verbatim copy of the telegram alluded to : — " Will go to Nelson, address electors, and decide there. When is the nomination ? " This, as we read it, is very different from the idea intended to be conveyed by the Colonist that Mr. Saunders will not decide until the nomination.
