The Nelson Evining Mail THURSDAY, APRIL 18, 1872.
Representation of the City of Nelson. — We are authorised to state that Mr. Alfred Saunders intends visiting Nelson shortly, where he will address the electors with a view to offering himself as a candidate for the seat rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr. Lightband. Resident Magistrate's Court. — During the past twelve months 1,047 cases have been'tried by the Resident Magistrate in the courts at Nelson, Spring Grove, and Motueka. Of this number 798 were tried in Nelson, the total amount sued for being £6,449 17s. Id. Concert. — The concert in aid of All ' Saints' Church Organ Fund is to be given in the Provincial Hall to-morrow evening, when the weather, it is to be hoped, will prove more favorable than on the day at first appointed. As a rule, postponed entertainments do not go off with such spirit or success as if they had taken place at the time originally fixed, but such is not likely to be the case on the present occasion, as another week has been devoted to practice, the rehearsal which took place last night having passed off in the most satisfactory manner. The tickets, we are glad to bear, are being quickly disposed of, and the attendance is likely to prove very large.
