The Lady Barkly. — Owing to some accident to ber machinery, the Lady Barkly will be laid up for some flays. Notice will be given of the day when she will recommence running, San Francisco Mail. — Although we received the telegrams by the Nevada yesterday, it will be sometime before the mail reaches us, the Taranaki which arrived this rooming having left Manukau before the American steamer was signalled. Wipe Desertion. — R. K. Turner, who departed from Nelson a lew days ago and shipped as a seaman on board the Chile at Port Underwood, was brought back in the Wellington yesterday, and had an interview this morning with the Resident ''"Magistrate, who fined him £1 and costs for deserting his wife; and ordered him to pay 15s. a week towards her support. •-/L Westport. -r- Another nugget, of over 50 ounces, has/ been fouud; near the Lyell. A party of five miners has obtained 500 ounces of gold from tbeir claim at the Lyell, in five weeks. Wanganui.— -The body of a woman . fees been found near the bridge.
