On Monday next, being a public holiday, the Evening Mail will be published at noon. ;
Steamer Lady Barkly. — An excursion trip at reduced rates will be made to Motueka, by this little steamer, on Monday next, leaving the wharf at 10 a.m. The Bishop of Nelson will preach tomorrow, Easter Sunday, in Christ Church, in the morniDg, and in the evening at All Saints. Central Board op Education. — Mr. John Sharp has been elected to represent the Motueka district in the Central Board of Education, in the place of Captain Rough, resigned. Spring Grove Wesleyan Church. — Sermons will be preached in this church to-morrow morniDg and evening by the Rev. P. Calder, after which collections will be made in aid of the fund for repairing the Minister's house. Resident Magistrate's Court. — Hubert Willis and Arthur Lake were this morning fined ss. each and costs for being druiik and disorderly on Thursday evening last. "Willis was also fined £1 and costs for using indecent and profane language. Nelson School Society.—- A sermon in connection with this Society will be preached by the Rev. W. J. Watkin in the schoolroom to-morrow afternoon, and the annual general meeting will be held on the following Tuesday at 7 p.m., after the tea, which will be on the table at half-past five. Easter Monday. — This day is lo be observed as a general holiday in town, and amusement has been provided for lovers of athletic sports by Mr. Alfred Drake, who advertises a number of foot races, &c, in the Botanical Gardens. The liberal prizes offered will no doubt bring together a number of competitors. His Lordship the Bishop arrived late on Thursday ereniog, overland in four days, from ReeftoD, where he preached last Sunday to crowded congregations ; the place is assuming a more settled aspect, carpenters and smiths in all directions. The township is reported to be one of the quietest and freest from rowdyism ever known in a rush of so large dimensions. Miss Clara Stephenson. — A most inviting programme of the entertainment to be given at the Assembly Room tonight has been issued by Miss Stephenson and her company, comprising, as it does, the one-act comedy Killing Time, the School for Scandal, and the farce What may happen to an unprotected young Man. These, combinedg with some songs and ballads, should not fail in securing a good house. Mr. M'Donogh, postmaster at Wanganui, has accepted an appointment as travelling commissioner to the Annuities and Life Insurance department of the Government.
