TELEGRAPH POLES FROM WELLINGTON

To The Editor of the Nelson Evening Mail. Sic,—Out of the telegraph poles now heing delivered on the wharf from Wellington, about 90 per cent, of them are very considerably under measurement, 30 per cent, are faulty, and bad timber (some rotten) Whose duty is it to pass them ? But for the stringent specification as to quality and the shortness of time given, they would have been tendered for in Nelson of proper size and sounder timber for a less price. I am, &c, Fatr Play.
