NELSON BOARD OF WORKS.
Friday March 8. Present : All the members but Mr. Houusell. The Finance Committee reported that they bad examined the books and found them correct. The Secretary was instructed to write to bis Honor the Superintendent applying for the balance of the vote of the Council due to the Board. It was decided that stone to the value of £100 should be obtained from the Dun MountaiD, previous to the rails being taken up. A letter was received from Mr. Rogerson, calling attention to the narrowness of the culvert, at the head of Washington Valley. The Surveyor was instructed to see to the matter and have it remedied. A letter was received from Mr. Suuley, calling attention to the state of the water-course near the turnpike gate. The Surveyor was instructed to inform Mr. Suuley that the Board would protect the banks so far as the street line } but beyond that it must be undertaken by the individuals interested. In reply to an application from Mr. Carter for £50 towards the price of the bricks he had contracted to make, the Secretary was instructed to inform him that the contract waß not yefc proceeded with sufficiently far to entitle him to any money on account. The opinion of Mr. H. Adams was received with reference to the sewage question, and a sub-committee consisting of Messrs. Fell, Burn, and Percy, was appointed to draw up certain resolutions to be submitted to Mr. Adams with a view to getting the Act amended at the next session of the Provincial Council.
