THE Telegraph Commissioner is prepared to RECEIVK TENDERS for the CARTAGE and DELIVERY of SIX HUNDRED AND FORTY (640) TELEGRAPH POLES, more or less, for a line of Telegraph between the City of • Nelson and the Town of Motaeka. .. The Poles will be of the following dimensions : —twenty-five (25) and twenty (2~0.) feet long (in proportions hereinafter to be. determined, but the greater proportion will be twenty (20) feet long), to be eight (8) inches square' at the butt, and six (R) inches sqnare at the.top. • The whole of the poles will be delivered to the contractor on the wharf, Nelson, by, the end of March, 1872, and will have to be delivered at points not less than four (4) chains apart, along a line of telegraph to be hereafter more particularly indicated by pegs which will follow, as a rule, along the present coach road between the City of Nelson and the town of Motueka. : ' : The.cartage of the poles^ to commence on or before the Ist April, 1872, and the whole to be delivered within two (2) months of the date of sighing the contrast, under a penalty. of. flve pounds (£5) per diem for every day beyond the time specified, which penalty will be recoverable from the contractor from any sums that may be, or become due to him under his contract.'
