A bather startling fact in connection with the late victory of Prajtor in the Sandhurst Cup is related by the correspondent of the Melbourne Age. He says:~ " The horse was actually in a state not far removed from positive intoxication when he scored the win. Prastor is one of the most cowardly animals ever started, on a racecourse, and his pluck dies away as soon as ever another horse collars him. His owner has lately been invoking the spirits to his aid by an attempt to infuse Dutch courage into the brute, treating him like a human creature. Before tbe Melbourne Cup was run, Praetor swallowed about half a. bottle of brandy, > but it did not bring him to the fore. At Sandhurst just before going for the Cup, be was treated to a bottle of whisky, and some observers declare that he was quite drunk when led out of the paddock. However he managed to ruu away from everything in the race, and no doubt tbe refreshment of his ' inner horse' by strong waters bad much to do in bearing up his courage for the struggle through the mud and rain."
