MELBOURNE.
Jan. 11. — Mr. Vale, the Commissioner of Customs, has published the following regulation lor drawbacks of Customs duties on re-shipped dutiable goods: Boots, shoes, musical instruments, stationery, machinery, brush and earthen wares, 10 per cent.; carpets, hosiery, hardware, gloves, 6^ ] per cent.; watches, oilman's stores, fancy goods, toys, piece goods, 5 percent.; apparel and slops, 4 per cent.; sugar (and- confectionery, 3s. per cwt.; tea, 3d. per Ib. The tariff geuerally is liberal with regard to other miscellaneous articles. The wreck and cargo of the Sussex have been disposed of at auction for £6,000. Captain Collard's certificate is suspended for six months. The German war ship Nymph is at Port Philip and the-officers are being feted. Mr. Trollope is on a visit to Tasmania. The race between Pentecost and Bedford was won by the latter easily The David Masterton Company has failed; liabilities £45,000.
