RICHMOND V. WAIMEA WEST.

C Commun ica ted). A match between the above clubs was played at Waimea West on Wednesday last, December 20. The Waimea West were the first to handle the willow, and it soon became evident that the Richmond team were determined lo pay off an old score, they having played two matches with their opponents last year and being beaten both times. The bowling of Messrs. C. Bonnington and Coles kept the umpires busily engaged in fixiug the stumps, only to be immediately knocked down again, the Waimea West eleven going out for a score of 20 ruus. The Richmond eleven next went to defend the wickets, and did their work well against the excellent bowling of Messrs. Kilgour and Blundell. When the last wicket fell the score stood at 62. Waimea West went in for their second innings and played much better than they did in tbeir first, running up a score 66 runs, the Richmond team fielding carelessly. The Richmond eleven, however, succeeeded in defeating their opponents with three wickets to spare. Subjoined is the score : — Wadiea West. Ist innings. 2nd innings. F.
