LIVE AND LET LIVE.
To The Editor of the Nelson Evening Mail. Sir, — Ln reply to Mr. Orton's sarcasm which appeared ii> this morning's Examiner on ludia Rubber Stamps, I will inform him in the first place it. is not a new or an American invention, (see Encyclojjedia) ', in the second, the stamp be is sgeut for is not a rubber at all, but 10 impress; thirdly, when he supposes the maker to want sense or ideas, does it not speak for itself that he should be so quickly in the field with Mr. Ortou. Tho world is wide, and there is room enough for all to live. The advertiser is not an adventurer, but a settled resident, which is bo business of Mr. Orton's. The challenge of fc man who is here to day and gone to-morrow is trumpery houuce. I advise him to come in a short time and see for himself what can be done. We have many itinerants visiting us from time to time with their schemes to take money out of the place when we cannot afford it. We must learn to help ourselves, and, if every resident would patronise local industry when the article can be produced at a reasonable rate, the town would assume a different trading aspect. I am, &c, Stamper.
