[Per Greville's Company, Reuter's Agents]. PAELIAMENTAItI. Wellington, November 9. The Board of Works clauses in the Immigration and Public Works Bill were struck out. The Wellington aud Wairarapa railway was agreed to by 35 to 17. The line from Wauganui to New Plymouth was included in the schedule. The line from Napier to Ruataniwha was agreed to, as also the tramway from Manawatu to Wanganui. The followiug new lines were inserted in. the schedule, on the motion of private members, and assented to by the Government: — Tokomairiro to Lawrence, Otago; Wanganui to Waitara, Taranaki; Ashburton to Temuka, Canterbury. The Government stated that they reserved to themselves the right to determine which of the authorised lines shall be commenced immediately. Mr. Stafford refused to take any part in what he termed the scramble into which the great Government scheme had degenerated. The House has dissented from the Legislative Council's amendments to the Payment to Provinces Bill, becnuse the latter had exceeded its constitutional authority in making them.
