Nelson Crrr Rieles. — At a meeting of thiscorps held last night, C. L. Maclean, Esq., was elected captain. Nelson Scientific Association. — We would remind our members that the mouthly meeting will be held tbis evening, at the Government Buildiugs, at 8 o'clock. Assembly Ro o m.— " Mysterious Shadows" aud Punch and Judy are still attracting audiences at the Assembly Room. It is proposed to give another entertainment to-morrow evening. Serious Accident. — A painful accident occurred this afternoon to William Good, brother of Mr. Walter Good, of this town, who, iv working a chaff-cutting machine, by some means or other got his arm under one of the knives, tbe consequence being that it was taken off a Uttle above the wrist. As the accident occurred only a few minutes before our time for going to press, we have been unable to ascertain the full particulars. New Church at Richmond. — The foundation of this church was laid by the Bishop of Nelson on Monday last with the customary ceremonies. In the evening a large public meeting was addressed by a number of clergymen and members of the laity. It was announced that £500 would be required to complete the building, towards which £426 had already been promised. The collection at the laying of the stone aDd at the meeting amounted to i! 2. -
