We are indebted to Mr. Mailer, for the following report :—Messrs M'Meckan, Blackwood, and Co's s.s. Tararua, Captain James Hagley, left Hobson'sßay at 3 p.m; on the 30th ult., and cleared Port Phillip Heads at 5.30 p.m. same day; experienced strong S.S.E, gale with heavy bead sea during the greater portion of the passage, and had to go at - halts-peed for-the first three days, arriving off Hokitika at 5 p.m. on the 6th inst. Transhipped mails, passenger?, and 116 tons cargo into the Waipara (steam tender), and left at 4 p.m. on the 7th for Greymouth; was tendered at 6 p.m., same day, by the p.s. Dispatch, and left for Nelson, arriving at 4 p.m. on the Bth-
