Mr. Reynolds opposed the motion, as the cost on the inland conveyance of newspapers exceeded even the present postage. f • Mr. Gisborne -said that the Government could not this year suffer such a loss to the revenue as this reduction would involve. - Mr. Bathgate and Mr. Reeves thought tbe revenue would benefit instead of suffer by the reduction.
