The Nelson Evening Mail. MONDAY, SEPTEMB ER 4, 1871 . WANT OF CONFIDENCE MOTION.

On Wednesday, the 13th instant, the hon. Mr. Stafford is to move, " That a Select Committee be appointed to examine into the whole question of the working and management of the Electric Telegraph Department, and to report thereon," &c. From private advices, on which we can place the fullest reliance, we learn that this is to be treated as a want of confidence motion, upon the result of which the Ministry is to stand or fall, and great interest is consequently taken in it, but the prevalent opinion is that it is too paltry a question upon which to try the strength of parties.
