A GRATEFUL MONARCH.

The Emperor of Germany is said to be particularly anxious to reward the Minister to whom he owes his crown in a liberal spirit. If the Empire is worth anything, the Emperor-maker ought not indeed to go without some tangible acknowledgement. The latest project ascribed to imperial liberality by the Prussian press is the purchase of the handsome valuable estate of Krotischin, in Posen, at present in the possession of Prince Thurn and Taxis, whose family, under the old regime held the monopoly of ihe Post-office throughout the Empire. The estate pays 120,000 thalera annual rent, and the Ovedownik reports to have agreed to pay the owner 2,400,000 thalers for it, in order to haud over to Prince Bismarck as a slight it token of his gratitude.
