EDUCATION RATE. Superintendent's Office, Nelson, July 12, 1871. PURSUANT to the Provisions of " The Education Act, 1863," the Stjpkeintexdent directs it to be notified tbat the : Annual. RATE imposed by the said Act, upon all Householders residing within Educational Distrcts. will be LKVIED on TUESDAY, the Ist day of August ; and that the same will be. Teceived at the following places, between the hours of Ten a.m., and Four p.m , namely — Court-house, Nelson, by -Alfred Hibble School-house, Clifton Terrace, Suburban North, by Alexander Wragg School-house, Stoke, by E. Cresswell Agricultural Hall, Waimea East, by William . Steer School-house, Waimea West, by George Walker. School-house, Spring Grove, by Cbarles.Knapp School-house, Upper Moutere, by H. Bensemanh Institute, Motueka, by B. F. Burreli School-house, Riwaka, by G. P.Pattie House of G. Taylor, Takaka, by G. Taylor Police Station, Collingwood. by John; Fisher Court-house, Cobden, by S. G. Rowley Court-house, Westport, by the Sergeant of Police, W. A. Kiely School- house, Motupiko, by George Flower School-house, Dovedale, by Job Best. The aforesaid act requires that " every Householder in each Educational District shall pay annually, Twenty Shillings, and a further sum of Five Shillings for every child of such Householder between the ages of five and fourteen years : Provided always, that no person shall be liable to pay for more than four children, nor for any child residing more than tbree miles from any school established under this act ; nor for any child attending any school not established under this act, in respect of whom such persons shall produce to the Collector a certificate signed by" the teacher of such school, showing that such child has attended during the three months previ >us to the levying of the rate."
