EDUCATION BATE. Superintendent's Office, Nelson, July 12, 1871. PURSUANT to the Provisions of "The Education Act, 1863," the Superintendent directs it to be notified that the Annual RATE imposed by the said Act, upon all Householders residing within Educational Districts, will be LEVIED on TUESDAY, the Ist day of August ; and that the same will be received at the followiug places, between the hours of Ten a.m., and Four p.m , namely — I Coart-bouse, Nelson, by Alfred Hibble {[School-bouse, Clifton Terrace, Suburban North, by Alexander Wragg School-house, Stoke, by E. Cresswell Agricultural Hall, Waimea East, by William Steer School-house, Waimea West, by George i Walker School-house, Spring Grove, by Charles Knapp School-house, Upper Moutere, by H. Bensemann Institute, Motueka, by B. F. Burrell School-house, Riwaka, by C. P. Pattie House of G-. Taylor, Takaka, by G. Taylor Police Station, Collingwood, by John Fisher Court-house, Cobden, by S. G. Rowley Court-house, Westport, by the Sergeant of Police, W. A. Kiely School-house, Motupiko, by George Flower School-bouse, Dovedale, by Job Best. The aforesaid act requires that " every Householder in each Educational District shall pay annually, Tweity Shillings, and a further sum of Five Shillings for e?ery child of such Housebo'der between the ages of five and fourteen yea.s : Provided always, that no person shall be liab'e to pay for more than four children, nor for any child residing more than three miles from any school established under this act ; nor for any child attending any school not established under this act, in respect of whom such persons shall produce to the Collector a certificate signed by the teacher of such school, showing that such cliild h-s attended during the three months previous to the levying of the rate."
