The s.s. Taranaki may be expected in Nelson, with the European mail via San Francisco, on Saturday next. We are indebted to Mr. Moss, the purser of the Taranaki, for the following report : — The s.s. Taranaki, 299 tons, E. Wheeler, Commander, left Lyttelton at 10.30 p.m. on the 17th, arriving at Wellington at 3 p.m. next day. Left Wellington at 10.30 a.m. on the 19th, and arrived at Nelson at 9 p.m. same day. Experienced fine weather and smooth water throughout. We are indebted to the purser of the Rangitoto for the following report : — The s.s. Eangitoto, H. Mackie Commander, left Hobson's Bay at 2.35 p.m. on Tuesday June 13th with a fresh westerly breeze, passed Ken t&iGtoup the next day at 6 a.m. Experienced-... jsmong S.S VV. winds with heavy rain until the erening of the 16th, afterwards light variable winds with fine weather. Arrived and anchored .off Hokitika at 4 p.m. on the 18th, after a fine run of 4 days 22 hours. Was tendered by the s.s. Waipara and left at 1.15 p.m. on the 19th for the Grey, arriving at 3 p.m. Was tendered by the Despatch, and left at 4 p.m for Nelson, arriving off" the Boulder Bank at noori to-day. Experienced strong head winds during the latter portion of the passage.
